10 Secrets to Memorizing the Qur’an Perfectly

1- Passion, love, and burning desire for memorization
Throughout the entire process of memorization tips, it is the burning desire that constantly motivates you and reminds you every time you forget to memorize. But how can we feel that passion and burning desire? The more you know the great value of memorizing the Qur’an and feel the great reward of achieving it, the more your passion and desire will increase.

A- The best way to approach Allah.

Allah has made it very easy for us to memorize the Qur’an. Allah says in the Book;

7-Self-Persuasion and Positive Thinking
Ninety percent of success in memorizing the entire Qur’an is about oneself. Persuasion, positive thinking, and burning desire and passion. – Am I old enough to memorize the Koran or can I memorize the Koran at this age?

8- Consistency

I complained to Waqi about my poor memory. The knowledge of Allah is light and His light is not given to sinners.

Steps in Hifz’s Journey

1- Rise early.
Try to wake up after or before Fajr time. This way, your mind will be very fresh. Every Sheikh gives this advice to his students. Besides, this is a very blessed time, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said.

2- Avoid distractions.
Distractions waste energy, but concentration restores it. To memorize faster and better, you need to stay focused. Turn off your cell phone, turn off Wi-Fi, and put all your energy into memorization.

3- Don’t jump around all over the place.
Try to stay organized and memorize the slurs in order. If you find it difficult to memorize, do not move on to another slur. If you can memorize at least one slur, you will be very happy. It will encourage you.

How to memorize and review the Qur’an

A- New memorization:
This is the first memorization section. Shorten it as much as possible.

B- New Review:
This is the part you memorized days or weeks ago. It seems the easiest task. Therefore, it is better to start with that part since it is easy and a good review.

C- Follow the 3 R’s (recitation, reading, and repetition).
First of all, you must recite the text you are trying to memorize according to Tajweed’s rules. You must focus on correcting your mistakes with your teacher. Next, you must read the text over and over again to make sure you are reading it 100% correctly. Finally, test yourself by repeating it dozens of times near the Koran.

D- Listen before you begin reading.
It is advisable to listen to the sheikh read slowly, clearly, and beautifully. Then you will listen to him regularly. Al-Husayn al-Husayn is one of the best charis in Egypt.

E- The best technique for memorizing the Koran.
Let’s say you are trying to memorize the first 10 verses of al-Mulk’s praise. If you find a mistake, underline the verse, repeat it over and over, and test it again.

Then move on to the next verse and do the same thing. After the first two verses, you don’t go on to the next; you combine the two verses and let them stick in your head. When that is done, move on to the third verse, and when that is done, combine all three. f- Recite what you have memorized in your prayer.
No one is going to correct your prayer, so do your best to read it without mistakes. That way, you will definitely memorize it perfectly and it will be harder to forget what you recite in prayer. This way, you will be able to memorize the Koran without forgetting it.
